LEARN + GROW:

Jesus is loving and patient

People used to throw away things like newspapers, empty water bottles, paper, aluminum cans. After they served their purpose, the objects were just seen as garbage. Nowadays, we do not throw away these objects, we recycle them to create new things.

In order for us to create new things from the old materials, we must look at the amazing possibilities that can be transformed when it goes through the process.

In the gospel this weekend, we will hear Jesus tell us a story about a fig tree that could not produce fruit. The owner of the orchard wanted to cut the tree down because there was no point in wasting resources on a tree that does not give fruit. However, the gardener asked him to leave it for another year and that he would take care of it.

God is the same way with us. He is patient with us even when we turn away from Him and sin. He doesn't give up on us. He is always there to help us so that we can be the best version of ourselves. He gave us His only Son to show us how much He loves each one of us.

 GO:

This week say an Act of Contrition Prayer each night. Read the prayer carefully and show God your love for Him.

Act of Contrition

My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.

St. Joseph

Joseph was a quiet, hard working carpenter who kept God's commandments. He loved Mary and wanted to marry her. She agreed, but when Joseph saw that Mary was going to have a baby and it was not his, he became very upset.

In a dream, God's angel told Joseph it was all right to marry Mary. The angel explained how the baby was God's own baby, and Joseph was being given the sacred task of protecting and supporting Mary and the baby Jesus.

Joseph listened to his dream, accepted the task, and became the foster-father of Jesus. Joseph loved Jesus very much, and taught him all he knew about carpentry.

We are told that when Joseph died, Jesus and Mary were present and he died a happy death. Saint Joseph is the patron saint of a happy death.
