Social Concerns

What do we really mean by "Social Concerns"? What is it...? A ministry - a movement - a political stand...?

Do you have five minutes to read this page... and a lifetime of commitment?

One day during an ecumenical gathering I heard a minister say "God is not looking for people who have ability, but availability. That is all you need." Interesting! Very intriguing...!

Social Concerns is a ministry, actually more than a ministry - It is a way of life... an invitation to commit to full-time Christian service!

Just an example or just reality... Life is harder for some people than for others. Some people have lost hope in their lives. This is not only a fact, it is also a call to genuinely do something about it. What is the most heartbreaking is to realize that there are kids, young kids, who in their early lives have already lost hope... Have they really lost that sense of hope, which perhaps they never really had to begin with? They, perhaps never understood hope as happiness or never knew it existed because we, as adults, have not shown them the color of hope. This taste of happiness and how it feels in the heart to look ahead with hope... when they look ahead, don't they look at us -ᅠadults...? They look at the way we care for them and for each other...

Don't they look at the world we are going to leave behind... Accountability! [Whoops a big word] Can we really feel fulfilled in our existence when we realize we live in a same world when a child [somewhere far in the world or in our own country and next door to us] grows up with no horizon to reach out for, no hope to dream for... and do nothing about it!!!

Social Concerns is a big Enterprise of Care... This ministry includes manyᅠvarious aspects and way to care... From food banks to the poor, needy and unfortunates... to Pro-life and advocating for respect of the gift of life from conception to natural death... From voting in all conscience... to lobbying to local governments for equality among genders and for a society at large with justice for all...

Can we change [can we try to] our neighborhood, our cities, our states, the nation - our world... Wow...

Moses told Pharaoh, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says, "Let my people go..."' (Exodus-5:1) Indeed freedom in its true sense will bear the fruit of liberation and bring hope and happiness to the heart of the oppressed. But really today, can one person make a difference in this world? Is it hard to answer such a question? Or is it? Jesus Christ gives us the answer in the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke, 10:30-37). We can make a difference for the one person we help. Perhaps we can make a difference in one person at a time. We can make a world of difference in the person we do not know... a difference in the world of the person we have yet to meet...

The five minutes are up...

You have a heart! and want to share a part of it...! This ministry is for you... Find the way to be involved that is right for you and let us go together or even in our separate ways (like the Apostles) make a difference in the world and bring about the Kingdom of God for all to see...

Would you have five more minutes...?
